This report is based on a simulated consecutive interpreting of a Professor's lecture on the HBU-XUL Education Forum held by Hebei University.The interpreter performs the simulated consecutive interpretation according to the recordings of that professor's lecture.After this simulated task,the author finds the problems and makes a summary of interpreting strategies in the process of interpreting.This report consists of five chapters: task description,the process description,preparation for interpreting,case analysis,and conclusion.The first chapter introduces the task source and content,task requirements,and task significance.The second chapter introduces the process of the task.The third part details preparations for interpreting the task and the fourth chapter is case analysis.Preparations include the author's preparations for the speaker's background information,collection for vocabulary,theory preparation and other preparations.The fourth chapter is the case analysis.In this part,the author mainly analyzes the interpretation of culture-loaded vocabulary,non-subject sentences,redundant information,coordinate construction,and the logical sequence in speaker's discourse.In the fifth part the author summarizes the experience gained from this consecutive interpreting task with the hope that it may help improve her ability of interpreting and she also hopes to give some reference to other interpreters.
