International conference has become a popular way for countries to exchange and share the ideas and achievements of economy, politics and culture. Participants of an international conference come from various cultural backgrounds, which gives rise to the conference interpreting industry. In the September of 2013, the Summer Davos Forum was held in Dalian, China. At the opening ceremony, Premier Li Keqiang gave an important speech to the government leaders, business representatives and friends from the media press. During the speech, Premier Li Keqiang extended welcome to the guests present, gave a brief introduction of the Forum that has always been held in China, and more importantly, had a thorough review of China’s economy and the role it has been playing in international affairs. The simulated practice of the speech is analyzed from two layers as translation tactics and techniques. Some findings are summarized about the industry and some tentative suggestions are made in terms of translation tactics and techniques. Foreignization and domestication should be adopted in rotation in case of need. The various translation techniques should be practiced frequently to achieve better results at actual work. Meanwhile, there are some unsolved issues about the conference interpreting, such as how to get used to the speed of the speaker, how to cope with cultural differences and how to make up for mistakes during the interpreting. That requires more practice to find a proper solution and gain experience as well. At last, the direction and future of the industry is being predicted and discussed. Interpreters should get better at the job as well as deserve a more mature and professional industry environment for them to grow.
