A Report On The Translation Of English News Of Science And Technology In Virtual Reality

This translation report is based on English news of science and technology in the field of virtual reality.The selected materials for translation can convey the cutting-edge information of the development in VR field.By analysing the characteristics of headlines,vocabulary and sentences in English news of science and technology,and combining the theory of translation variation,the author illustrates translation strategies and techniques about this kind with many typical examples translated by the author.The feasibility of the theory of translation variation in English news of science and technology is confirmed in the process.The main content of this report is divided into five sections: Part One is the introduction of the background,where the project's significance is elaborated and brief description of original translation materials is introduced;Part Two mainly focuses on the task process from three aspects: preparation,translation process and translation review.Part Three introduces the research background,which consists of analysis of the textual features of English news of science and technology,an overview of the theory of translation variation and the role of this translation theory in the translation of the English news of science and technology.Part Four focuses on translation strategies and skills illustrated with examples cited from the translated materials.To explore the feasibility of the theory of translation variation in practice,in this part,the author makes a through inquiry into the application of the theory of translation variation to English news of science and technology from three aspects:title,vocabulary and sentence.Part Five concludes with lessons,enlightenment and unsolved problems in the translation project.Among the five parts,Part Four acts as the key part.Through the description of the task and case analyses,the author has found that the theory of translation variation can be used to solve difficulties in the translation of the English news of science and technology.
