A Report On Translation Of English Agreements

With the deepening of China's reform and opening up,agreements,the important items for recording economic and trade activities in bilateral or multi-party cooperation and ensuring their legal rights,have always been playing an increasingly important role in overseas bilateral economic and trade activities.In this process,the translation of agreements is also of great importance,which,to a large extent,exerts tremendous effect on the normal operation of economic and trade activities.This thesis,based on the translation of an English agreement text by the author in Shanghai Locatran Translation Company,explores the literary features of English agreement texts and brings forward certain methods of translating agreement texts to ensure normal operation of business activities.By induction,this thesis analyzes the stylistic features of the English agreements,and then combines the examples in the author's text to analyze the techniques used in the translation process,such as word conversion,content addition,conversion of passive sentences into active voice etc.Finally,the thesis reaches a brief conclusion and makes a reflection derived from translation.This thesis,by discussing the translation practice of the author,aims at a deeper understanding of translating English agreements to guide the translation practice in the future and promote the translation skills of the author.It also arrives at the conclusion that in translating English agreements multiple skills should be used and commitment and professionality are required.
