This thesis intends to provide non-conventional training methods,to help students train multitasking ability with the help of computer by the students themselves. On the basis of Daniel Gile's Effort Model, this thesis proposes three effective self-training methods, including retelling while playing memory games, dual listening, and online simultaneous interpretation with subtitles to assist the students in enhancing multitasking ability step by step.To test the effectiveness of the above-mentioned three methods,a simulated experiment encompassing two parts was conducted. In part one, five students from the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation,Beijing Foreign Studies University were invited to a two-month three-phase self-training experiment. In part two, both subjective(questionnaire)and objective(multitasking ability test&simultaneous interpreting ability test)measures have been taken to examine if these five students' multitasking ability and simultaneous interpreting ability have literally improved after two-month self-training.After the experiment, qualitative and quantitative analyses on the three-method experiment result have been made, and the questionnaires and the results of the multitasking ability test and the simultaneous interpreting ability test have been assessed. It can be concluded that after two months of self-training,the multitasking capacity and simultaneous interpreting level of the subjects have been greatly improved, hence the effectiveness of the three methods.
