A Practice Report On Simulated English-chinese Consecutive Interpreting Of Edward Snowden's Video Conference In McGill University

With the advent of information globalization,people's attention has been broadly aroused by the problem of information security.In the year of 2013,the secret information of PRISM,which was discovered by Edward Snowden,whipped up a storm between information security and human rights.Under the governance of the government,Snowden has always advocated that citizens are entitled to keep their information secure,and he has always been dedicated himself to appealing to people to safeguard their own rights.This is a report on simulated consecutive interpretation of a video speech made by Snowden at McGill University in Montreal,a city of Canada,in November of 2016.Snowden has been continuously controversial since he came out,and been watched by people from every corner of the world.Due to his asylum in Russia,the speech is hosted through the internet.As for the reason why this material has been selected,the author thought that the field concerned is relatively neoteric and the amount of information is rather large,especially Snowden's idea on information security,which is of great reference.After the simulation,in accordance with recordings and videos,the author sorted out the problems such as misinterpreting,information loss and ambiguity.Finally,the author formulated this report.First of all,the author made a detailed description on material selection,task background and task requirements.Secondly,chapter two mainly discussed the process of task implementation which includes pre-task preparation such as collecting terminology,background information,auxiliary devices and emergency handling.What's more,the author analyzed and reflected the problems and possible causes.In the end,the author put forward some solutions in accordance with the shortages above.
