A Practice Report On The Simulated Consecutive Interpretation Of The 3rd Round Of The Press Conference For The 3rd Session Of The 12^th CPPCC National Committee

Annually, the "two sessions" mean quite a lot to Chinese people and attract attention from all over the world in that people's livelihood and the direction of national development are discussed and decided during the "two sessions". Media from different countries come to China and report on the "two sessions". On account of the difference in language, communication between each other lies in the interpretation. The birth of conference interpreting is a must and now it is widely applied in conferences of different types.This thesis is, under the guidance of the interpretive theory, a simulation interpretation practice report of the third round of the press conference for the third session of the 12th CPPCC national committee, with the theme "promoting people's livelihood and the harmony and stability of the society". The task is a classic consecutive interpretation, namely CI with notes. It took two hours and twenty-seven minutes to finish this interpretation practice. The author believes that the content of this interpretation practice is of some difficulty and it is both a test and challenge of the interpreter' level. Thus, this interpretation practice is of executive value and practical significance.This practice report is composed of four parts. Chapter one is task description, consisting of the background and the characteristics of the task as well as the reasons of choosing this task. Chapter two dwells on process description, including preparation before the interpretation, implementation of the interpretation and analysis after the interpretation. The preparation part illustrates in detail about assistive tools, audience, background information, terminology, regular interpretation practice as well as the interpretive theory. The interpretive theory put much emphasis on deverbalisation and the equivalence of meaning. Chapter three focuses on case analysis, which summarizes the translation problems occurred during the interpretation. Respectively, these problems are linguistic redundancy, words and sentences of Chinese characteristics, non-subject sentences as well as long sentences. Based on theoretical analysis about these translation problems, tactics are proposed correspondingly. Chapter four comes to the summary and reflection on this interpretation practice.It is hoped to accumulate some interpreting experience through this simulation task to further improve the level of the author's interpretation. Meanwhile, this interpretation practice report can provide theoretical supports to show interpretive theory's effective guidance to interpretation practice and offers some inspiration and enlightenment on those interpretation learners.
