A Report On Simulated C-E Simultaneous Interpreting With Scripts

With further development of economy and society and advance of globalization,the automotive and equipment manufacturing industry arouses more and more public attention.This thesis is a simulated Chinese to English simultaneous interpreting report with texts based on the speech given by a representative of FAW in Automotive and Equipment Manufacturing Industry Conference 2016 hosted in Nanhu Hotel on Sept.29.The author simulated the speech given by the representative of FAW and found that there were indeed a large number of obstacles in SI,namely long and complex sentence difficulties,dealing with figures and the interpretation of expressions with Chinese characteristics.As it is being said,interpreting is a kind of art with regret.However,the interpreter could take some measures to improve his interpretation.The simulated SI practice is a pretty good channel to enhance SI skills for interpreting learners.Through this method,they can strenghthen their interpreting skills and improve psychological quality,as well as constantly accumulate knowledge and fixed words and expressions in almost every field.This is a simultaneous interpreting report with script.Considering the complexity of the whole task,the author has made full prepatation before the task,including pre-interpreting preparation,post-interpreting evaluation etc.Even though full preparation has been made,there are still numerous mistakes occuring,including long and complex sentence difficulties,expressions with Chinese characteristics,and interpreting figures.According to this real simulation,the author selected four criterion to evaluate this task.They are fluency,fidelity,speed of delivery and ear-voice-span.The author analyses lots of documents trying to find some solutions to cope with those difficulties,namely studying the structural similarities and differences between English and Chinese,improving listening comprehension and public speaking and grasping SI strategies.This simulated report examined the simultaneous interpreting skills of the author,making him realize both advantages and disadvantages.All of the examples are real,and the author hopes that it will be of great help for future studies.
