A Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpreting (C-E) On Sports News Conference

This paper is a simulated consecutive interpreting report. The translation task is to provide consecutive interpreting service for sports press conference. The main content of the press conference introduces the football cooperation between Evergrande Group and Alibaba Group.Sports interpreting has some characteristics, such as technical terms, abbreviations and background knowledge. Therefore,it is necessary for interpreter to fully understand those characteristics in order to better complete the translation task.In this paper,Interpretive Theory is the theoretical foundation, which was established by Danica Seleskovitch in the 1960s and was once the guiding theory of interpreting research in the West. It has also exerted a great influence on interpreting research in China.Interpretation Model and Deverbalization are the core concepts of Interpretive Theory.The common interpreting techniques of this report include omission, addition,reorganizing, conversion and negation, which are the kernel parts of this article.Those theories and methods support the whole framework of the paper. The case analysis is the flesh and blood of this paper. Combining theories and case studies,ultimately they compose this interpreting report.The main purpose of this thesis is to summarize the features and difficulties of sports interpreting, to study the application of Interpretive Theory in the field of sports interpreting and to explore the common techniques of sports interpreting.
