Fantasy literature is a newly emerging literary genre that features with virtuality,enjoyment and legendary.It has drawn more and more popularity and attention,making a contribution to the new cultural prosperity with unrivaled momentum.However,because of the low quality of translation,unprofessional translators and other reasons,the translation of fantasy novels is not satisfactory in China,which attracts attention in domestic translation industry.Based on the Skopos theory,the author takes L.Ron.Hubbard's fantasy fiction If I Were You as the source text to make an analysis on the translation of fantasy literature.It presents a fantastic story of black magic that happened in a circus.The story is incredible and weird with vivid and lively characters and the language is full of distinct features of the age and culture,possessing entertainment.The report focuses on the problems in translation process,including selection of words,context transfer and culture-loaded words.In the process of translation,the author adopts Skopos theory as the guiding principle,puts the target readers in the first place and respects their requirements to make the translation faithful to source text both in content and in form.Through the translation practice,the author concludes that a translator should flexibly employ different translation methods and maintain the charm of the source text.Specifically speaking,for the selection of words,the translator should fully grasp the target readers' means of expression and adopt the methods of amplification and retaining the original meanings of the source text;for reconstructing the context,the translator should carefully reckon the main characters' mental activities and language features;for the culture-loaded words,the translator should employ the glossary provided by the source text author,substitute it with corresponding words in the target language and annotation.Only with these methods could bring excellent fantasy novels into China and make significance to the development of domestic fantasy literature translation.
