A Report On The Translation Of Culture-Loaded Words Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

Nowadays,more and more Chinese texts have been translated into English,promoting the cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.The translating of culture-loaded words has always been a challenge for translators because readers' understandings of culture-loaded words in texts greatly affect their understandings of the whole text.In this report,the author select some representative Chinese culture-loaded words in 2019 Guangdong International Youth Exchange Week Guide Book as research objects.He interprets these Chinese culture-loaded words and discusses how to choose appropriate methods to translate them properly based on Skopos Theory.The translation of Chinese culture-loaded words is the most difficult point in the translation of the Guide Book.Through the interpretation and translation of these words,the author hopes that it helps to eliminate the cultural barriers in the entire target text,make teenagers from abroad understand the whole handbook smoothly,promote the exchange of cultures as well as thoughts between China and foreign countries,and arouse the interest of the target readers in Guangdong culture.Through the discussion of the translation methods of culture-loaded words,the author hopes that the report can provide some reference for the English translation of Chinese culture-loaded words in other types of text.
