As the comprehensive national strength of China rises, the number of foreigners who are coming to China to learn Chinese increases. At the same time, foreigners learn Chinese in a more deep and accurate way.Hence, teaching grammar has got increasingly got more attention. However,a number of grammar teaching have not taken students' language backgrounds into consideration,so,they can not enhance learning efficiencies. For African students, the first step is making comparison between Chinese and English, and then adopting chunk theory and grammar formula, which will simplify grammar difficulties, reduce learners' fear and time. The whole process is a helpful exploration for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Based on contrastive analysis and chunk theory, selected investigation method and observation method, took lesson 23 and lesson 25 of "Practical Chinese Reader " as examples,at the end,the teaching design was made for the African students of Chinese 2 Class of XX University. From the teaching and exam,Four things can be concluded:(1)The majority of the subjects can understand the pair that there is an agent and patient available in the Chinese passive sentences.(2)Most subjects learn Chinese passive sentences with mark better than without mark.(3)Some subjects are still not familiar with the authentic Chinese expressions.(4)Subjects do not get used to using Chinese complement and modal particle “?”.Therefore, teachers are supposed to pay more attention on how to illustrate who is agent and who is patient, encourage students to input more authentic Chinese expressions and output notional passive sentences and recite the chunk : "verb+complement +modal" particle in order to solve the confusion of complement and modal particle.
