| Confucius Institution of Burundi University was set up by Bohai University.In the passed 5 years,Volunteer Chinese Teachers played a significant role in its development.In order to complete the task successfully overseas,the volunteer Chinese teacher do not only have the sense of responsibility and missions,but also grasp multiple skills,including skills of Chinese teaching,Chinese culture transmission,and cross-cultural communications,which are all indispensable.The results of questionnaires and interviews from 14 volunteers,25 Chinese students and 2 leaders of confusion institution shows that the some volunteers were not good at the local language and Chinese artistic skills.They do not regularly reflect their work activities,and are lack of self-reflective awareness.Meanwhile,there is no career planning in their professional development.Based on the above problems,the professional development of volunteers should be improved from the following aspects:Firstly,volunteers should make themselves adapt to overseas-environment,make full use of overseas resources to improve self-study,to sum up their own teaching and work.Secondly,The master of International Chinese Language Education training courses should increase the intensity of cultural transmission.Thirdly,Hanban’s pre-job training needs to increase the corresponding content,providing the returning volunteers and new volunteers with a communication platform.Finally,the Confucius Institute should take the initiative to help volunteers adapt to overseas life and work as soon as possible,and follow the volunteer teaching activities to guide them in teaching and learning.With the expansion of Confucius Institution of Burundi University,as a volunteer teacher,they should constantly summarize the teaching activities and make self-reflection and improve their professional skills and comprehensive quality in order to grow into qualified Chinese teachers. |
