A Research Into The New Intellectual Group Of China Go Global During The Westernization Movement Period

The westernization movement period is the significant period of China's modern history.During this period,Chinese society had a great upheaval.After the foreign countries' strong weapons,the status of Celestial Empire disappeared rapidly.Chinese people began to wake up.They decided to be strong and rich and rebuild China's power.To achieve this goal,they walked into the road of discovering western countries gradually.Just in this period,intellectuals of China formed.All of them suffered embarrassed and helpless impact from the process of tradition to modern transformation.The intelligentsia of China went global during the westernization movement period not only reflected Chinese society's radical change,but also represented the transformation of social academic and China intelligentsias' reaction.The thesis targets on the new intellectual group of China going global during the Westernization Movement Period.First,analyze the background of that period.Then investigate their travel activities and what they saw and heard.At last,summarize their ideological characteristics and meaning of walking into the world.The thesis is divided into four parts: Part one discusses China society's transition during the westernization movement period.Part two investigates the activities of intellectuals going global during the westernization movement period,such as western policy,economy,education,military,philosophy and customs.Part three explores and analyses the ideology of China's intellectual group going global during the westernization movement period based on their ideas and characters.Finally,it makes a comment on the meaning of intellectual group going global during the westernization movement period.
