This thesis is a practice report based on the consecutive interpreting simulation of John Kerry's address at the Vietnam War Summit.Upon reviewing the interpreting task and analyzing the problems in the simulation practice,the author presents a summary of the problems,pinpoints the causes and elaborates on solutions to similar problems in future practices.Daniel Gile,a famous scholar,is a professor of Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris,who puts forward the Interpretation Comprehension Equation,which has been only adopted by many domestic and overseas scholars in their theoretical studies.Nevertheless,the author conducts her research and writes her practice report with regard to integrating the Equation with the practice.The author,firstly,presents a brief introduction of the interpreting task.Secondly,she elaborates interpreting process.Thirdly,she analyzes problems in the practice from the following aspects,which are information extraction,context analysis,and information conveying.She also gives problem-solving solutions,which are identifying and consolidating the key information,achieving cohesion and coherence,and developing cross-culture empathy.Through the simulation practice and problems analysis,the author gets familiar with the styles and features of political interpretation and finds out some strategies and methods which will be helpful to deal with problems in future practices.
