Vegetarian regulation is a typical feature of Chinese Buddhism,and it is also a salient features which differs from Buddhism in other area.The formation of Buddhist vegetarian regulation is about in the North and South dynasties,in which emperor Liangwu and emperor Wenxuan in Northern Qi Dynastyhave carried out large-scale vegetarian vegetarian movement which laid an important foundation for the promotion of Buddhist vegetarianism nationwide.Buddhism was from India and it pursued the system that take a bowl to beg for food in the early formation.Later with the spread of Buddhism around the world it combined with the local customs and so that different regions of the Buddhists formed the different diet according to local conditions.Vegetarian combined with personality in pre-Qin of China,and vegetarian is considered as the performance which stay in poverty and remain willing to stick to faith and have noble character that praised for the Confucian culture.Buddhism is spread to China from the Eastern Han Dynasty,and the Chinese Confucian culture continue to exchange and integration.After four hundred years it developed into the glorious period in Northern and Southern Dynasties which becomes a pivotal force of Chinese society.Vegetarian happens to hold the same view with which Buddhism forbid killings and protect the common people,so it is praised highly by the rulers.The Northern and Southern Dynasties was an era which war occurs frequently and split separatist in Chinese history,but it was also the era of national integration,cultural exchanging and pluralism.Buddhism became popular in this period,and achieved remarkable achievements in Buddhist scriptures and grotto statues.At the same time,this period is also an important period of combination with Chinese politics.The rapid development of Buddhism has brought a series of social problems.Then,the monk system began to be founded,and the rulers strengthen management and domination while supporting the development of Buddhism.The paper is based on point of departure that Chinese traditional Confucian culture treats towards vegetarianism and the characteristic of Buddhism spreading,then combined with the evolution of the emperors' treativities in the Northern and Southern Dynasties,in which compares the similarities and differences between the emperor and the Northern Qi Dynasty and then clarify the formation of the promotion of context and the development of Buddhism and politics between the evolution of the relationship.emperor Liangwu and Northern Qi emperor Wenxuan carry out vegetarian and forbidden kill in South and North that not only for the purpose of faith,but also for the maintenance of national domination needs.However,there are many differences in promoting the eradication of vegetarian in the original intention?the content and implementation of the edict,personal practice and the impact of future generations of many other aspects.The Northern Qi emperor Wenxuan was affected by the influence of emperor Liangwu,andmany aspects followed by emperor Liangwu,but this can not be denied merit of emperor Wenxuan that forbid killing and pursue vegetarian dietfor the development of the North dynasty Buddhism.
