An Investigation For Dialect Vocabulary In Xianzijiao Village,Dao County,Hunan Province

Dao County under the jurisdiction of Yongzhou City,Hunan Province,located in the middle of Xiaoshui,is a typical double dialect district in Southern Hunan Province.Local people speak the Southwest Mandarin externally,and local dialect internally.Due to internal differences,the local dialect is divided into four small branches:Xiaojia Branch,Xianglinpu Branch,Xianzijiao Branch&Meihua Branch.As to Xianzijiao Branch,the vocabulary study is relatively rare and has not been systematically completed.although some scholars have made some achievements in phonetics,grammar and vocabulary.In this paper,the vocabulary of Xianzijiao dialect in Dao County of Hunan Province is taken as the object of study.The over 3000 pcs vocabulary of Xianzijiao dialect is collected by means of field investigation,graphic method,comprehensive comparison,and induction and so on.On the basis of this,the comparative study of the Xianzijiao dialect and Chinese Mandarin is made,mainly analyzing the syllable number,morpheme combination,adjective affix,adjective special form,meanings and usage,and coinage motivations.At the same time,the Xianzijiao dialect and the words of Shouyan dialect and other southern Hunan dialect vocabulary were compared,from which to see the common and character of southern Hunan dialect,with a view to provide materials for southern Hunan dialect in-depth study.This Paper can be divided into 6 chapters as following:Chapter 1:Introduction.This paper mainly introduces the human geography,history and language use of Dao County and Xianzijiao Town,the research status,the meaning and methods of the study,the pronunciation partner,and the phonetic system of Xianzijiao Dialect.Chapter 2:Xianzijiao Dialect vocabulary.The word list is based on the fourth chapter of the"Language Survey Document Record and Linguistic Record",which uses Sonicfield software to conduct on-the-spot investigation and obtain recording material,which has been formulated in a comprehensive way.The word list contains 3180 words of the Xianzijiao dialect,according to the type of arrangement,a total of32 categories.Chapter 3:The morphology analysis for Xianzijiao Dialect.In this chapter,the similarities and differences of syllable number and morpheme combination between Xianzijiao Dialect and Chinese Mandarin vocabulary are analyzed in detail,and the common formative affixes and special adjective forms of Xianzijiao Dialect are summarized.Chapter 4:Analysis of the meaning and usage of Xianzijiao Dialect.The meaning analysis mainly discusses the significance difference in vocabulary between the Xianzijiao Dialect and the Chinese Mandarin,including the synonymy and the broad meaning of the word.The analysis of usage is to analyze the differences of the usage of the general-purpose quantifiers,such as"粒","头","□[m?⁵⁴]"and"□[ku²²]",which are more prominent in the Xianzijiao Dialect vocabulary.Chapter 5:Analysis of the motivations of word formation for Xianzijiao Dialect from the direct naming and twist namingChapter 6:the comparative study of the vocabulary of the Dialects of Xianzijiao,Shouyan and other southern Hunan dialects.The similarities and differences between the words of the Xianzijiao Dialect,Shouyan Dialect,Ningyuanping dialect and Jiangyong dialect are compared from the aspects of word form,meaning and lexical meaning,and the reasons are analyzed.
