Relationship Between Pubertal Timing,Parenting Style And Ego Identity Of Junior High School Girls

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the pubertal timing and ego identity of junior high school girls,and to explore the mediation effect of parenting style in this relationship.Methods:Using the Pubertal Development Scale,s-EMBU-C,EOM-EIS-2 to 733 junior high school girls at 3 junior high school in Hunan and Anhui province.Results:?1?17.46%of girls were early maturing,64.39%were“on-time”,and 18.14%were“late maturing”.?2?There was significant difference between locations?single-child in the pubertal timing,While no significant difference between single-parent and parents'education.?3?There was significant difference between parenting style in the pubertal timing,early-maturing girls had higher scores in mother's rejection than the precocious girls and in mother's over-protection than late maturing girls.?4?There was significant difference among ego identity in the pubertal timing,early-maturing girls had higher scores in consciousness diffusion than the precocious girls and in consciousness moratorium than late maturing girls.?5?early-maturing have an direct effect on consciousnessdiffusion??₂=0.113,P<0.01?andwhole diffusion??₂=0.092,P<0.05?,mother's rejection play a part intermediary role in early-maturing and consciousness diffusion?consciousness and whole diffusion,the mediating effect of the proportion of the total effect is 6.50%and 9.37%.Conclusion:?1?70%of girls were“on-time”,and 30%were“early maturing”or“late matureing”.?2?Rural girl is easier to appear early maturing and single-girl is easier to appear later maturing.?3?mother's rejection are closely related with early maturing.?4?Early-maturing not only affects the probability of consciousness identity diffusion and moratorium,but also affects the probability of consciousness identity diffusion and whole identity diffusion through the mother's rejection.
