A Research On The Relationship Among Separation-Individuation, Parenting,and Ego Identity For Senior Students

The senior high school is important period of ego identity and separation -individualization development, and also the critical period of academic development and career choice. In this study, we collected 451 Senior High School students in Nanjing City as the research objects, using the method of questionnaire test to test the relationships among separation-individualization, parenting style and ego identity to senior high school students. The results showed as follow:(1)Most senior high school students' positive separation beyond the average level. The separation-individualized has main effect significantly in grade, the negative separation levels of grade one are higher than grade two and grade three significantly, the positive separation levels of grade three are higher than grade one significantly. The positive separation levels of the one-child are higher than not only children.(2)Most senior high school students' parents adopt the parenting way of caring, encouraging independent. The parenting style has main effect significantly in grade, the mother's care levels of grade three are obviously higher than the grade one and grade two. The father's control levels of grade one are higher than grade two and grade three significantly. The girls get more love from parents than boys. The sccres of mother's love and encourage, father's love and encourage of only-child are higher than the only children significantly.(3)In ego identity, most high school students in a state of identity moratorium, the scores of identity foreclosure in grade two higher than grade one and grade three significantly. Boys' identity moratorium score are higher than the girls significantly. The only-child get higher scores in identity achievement than the one-child students.(4)Positive separation is positively correlated with mother's love, encourage and control, and father's love, encourage, Positive separation is positively correlated with identity achievement, identity moratorium, and identity foreclosure, and negatively correlated with identity diffusion. Parents' love and encourage is positively correlated with identity achievement, identity moratorium, and identity foreclosure, in addition, negatively correlated with identity diffusion. There is significant positive correlation relationship between parents' control and identity diffusion.(5)Positive separation plays partial intermediary role between mother's encourage and identity achievement; positive separation plays partial intermediary role between mother's love and identity moratorium; positive separation plays partial intermediary role between father's love and identity foreclosure; negative separation plays partial intermediary role between mother's control and identity diffusion.
