The 1920-1939 is the period of transition from classical words to vernacular language,with a clear experimental color.And the novel “Ni Huanzhi” by Ye Shengtao appeared as a late twenties major works,inevitably have such a brand of the times.Since 1949 Modern written Chinese language specification work undertaken and social change caused by changes in their own development but also makes the face of modern Chinese vocabulary system is different from the twenties and thirties of the last century.Thus,the early version of “Ni Huanzhi” retained a considerable number of old words,which reflected both the characteristics of the times,but also witnessed the historic changes of the modern Chinese vocabulary system.This paper from the following four aspects: The first part is an introduction,introduce the research achievement of “Ni Huanzhi”,pointing out the significance value of this paper;The second part is the structure changes of the old words in the novel “Ni Huanzhi”,including monosyllabic words and two-syllable words;The third part is the semantic change of the old words in the novel “Ni Huanzhi” to statistical analysis the words which is different from the modern Chinese written language and study the similarities and differences to identify generic;The forth part is to sum up the general characteristics of the old words in “Ni Huanzhi” and the reasons.
