Archimedes Network(Tianjin)co.,LTD had entrusted me,the author to do this translation of the patent specifications of the Patent Website of Michigan State University,which are all the most cutting-edge science and technology information of the fields they belong to,involving various aspects such as Chemical Engineering,Biology,Medicine and Physics,etc..This report is divided into four parts.Firstly,the language features and the significance of the translation project are described.The second part includes the preparation,the translation process and the proofreading.In this part,a detailed description of the Functional Equivalence Theory had been made and this theory had been demonstrated to apply to the translation of patent which is the text of science and technology very well.The third part is case study.Combining with the characteristics of Patent English,the author make detailed analysis on specific examples of the translation from the aspects of accurately conveying information,fluency and coherence of the sentence,conforming to the syntax rules and expression habits.The last part is the summary.The summary includes the translation problems,the methods taken during the translation course,and also the inspirations for my future work.
