A Report On The Translation Of Apparatus And Method For Charging Battery Based On Temperature

The translation project is based on the translator's translation practice at Giltbridge Information Technology Co.Ltd.(GBT),and the selected text is a patent application document granted by the Europe Patent Office(EPO)and entitled "Apparatus and Method for Charging Battery Based on Temperature".With popularity of electric devices,people have increasingly high requirement for the battery charging technology.A new battery charging method is invented in the patent,so that the battery can be normally charged in high or low temperatures,to maintain good performance and extend lifespan of the battery.According to Katharina Reiss' s text typology theory,most patent documents fall in the classification of the informative text.From the perspective of Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory,several translation techniques are used,such as sequence translation,addition,omission,and shift,to realize functional equivalence between the source text and the target text to a greatest extent.There are five chapters in the report.The first chapter includes the project introduction,the project significance,and the layout of the report.The second chapter analyzes the content,text type and linguistic features of the source text.The third chapter elaborates the translation theory and its application.The fourth chapter explores the translation difficulties and solutions.The fifth chapter concludes the report with the translation experience and problems to be solved.
