In the period of social transformation, the group conflict events occur frequently in our country, which has attracted the attention of the government and the public. It has been found that group-based emotions are the underlying cause of group conflict.Group-based guilt and shame is important group-based emotions.Research on the differences between group-based guilt and shame can pinpoint the behavior disposition and dynamic processes of group-based guilt and shame, which can provide the basis for prevention and intervention of group conflict and reduce the adverse consequences of group events.Due to the co-occurrence and similarity of these emotions, they are often mistaken as a kind of emotion,so it is necessary to study the differences between them.A total of 1345 undergraduate students participated in these three studies. In these three studies,We aim to explore the differences on construct, function and dynamic process between group-based guilt and shame.(1)Group-based guilt and shame were different on construct.Group-based guilt and shame are separate constructs. The two factor hypothesized model provided an adequate fit to the data.Importantly, the two-factor solution provided a significantly better fit to the data than the single factor solution.(2)Group-based guilt and shame were different on function.Group-based guilt was reliable and positive predictors of reparation attitudes, while group-based shame failed to predict reparation attitude.(3)Group-based guilt and shame were different on dynamic process.Group-based shame was regulated by blaming others, one of exonerating cognitions. But this exonerating cognition failed to reduce the intensity group-based guilt.
