A Report On The Translation Of Liberal Arts Education And Colleges In East Asia (The Third And Seventh Chapter)

The material for this translation report is the third and seventh chapters selected from a book entitled Liberal Arts Education and Colleges in East Asia.The third chapter introduces the basic s ituations of the libera l arts education in East Asian colleges.The seventh chapter is the case analysis of Fudan University and Lingnan University.These two chapters are related to each other,in which the third chapter is the basic theory and the seventh chapter is the specific interpretation of the third.The material selected has much tran slation value and is of great practic al significance because the language is relatively form al and rigorous,where there is no shortage of long and difficult sentences an d proper nouns of all kinds.In addition,quite a few terms in the traditional cultures of Asian countries are involved.This translation report falls into four main parts.The first part is the description of the translation task which includes the source,introduction and significance of the translation material.The second part is the translation pro cedures,which cover pre-translation preparation,th e difficulties solved in th e first draft,proofreading,polishing,and the finalizing of the whole text.The third part,which is Case study,is the core of this report.It m ainly analyzes some example sentences of the tran slation based on the perspectives of vocabulary,s yntax and discourse to consolidate the knowledge and improve translation skills.And the last part is som e conclusions and experience drawn from this translation practice.
