Bandung International foreign language College in Indonesia is currently facing a serious problem of lacking Chinese teachers, which may damage the image of the college and hinder the further development of Chinese education in Indonesia. This paper researches the external and internal factors that cause this problem and the strategies to handle this problem.External factors come from Indonesia' s historical background and the country under the rule of laws that its constitution requires. When President Suharto ruled the country, he published many presidential decrees and regulations that forbid Chinese education and the spread of Chinese culture. Anyone who would support Chinese education was likely considered to be violating the policy of government. Indonesia is a Muslim country believing in the philosophy of idealism, which is very different from the materialism that Chinese communists believe in. Materialism was not accepted in Indonesia and it' s very difficult for one to set foot in the country if he/she is a non-believer. Even though some officials in the education ministry know that it' s democratic and open in the era of President Joko Widodo and a strategic relationship has been established with China, they still worry about they might suffer from any kind of political change later on. Therefore, they are not very positive to carry out the easing policy and regulations to China.Internal factors are that Bandung Jinsong Foundation can ' t get along well with the management team of the college,they often change the dean and hold back the stability and development of the college. Management teams of both the foundation and the college should work together, seek common ground while reserving differences and make joint contribution to education. Besides, there are some other factors that affect the shortage of Chinese teachers,such as the Chinese language environment in Indonesia, the management system in the college, the professional development of teachers, teachers ' qualification, recruitment,assessment and the reward and punishment system, etc. The college should improve its management system, enhance teachers' professionalism and facilitate reflective Chinese teaching practice in order to make greater contribution to Chinese education in Indonesia.This paper holds the idea that national education ministry should fulfill their promise and carry out their policy and regulations on Chinese education in Indonesia. The management teams of the Foundation and the college as well as talents in all walks should work together and make joint efforts to the development of the college. The college should unite the management teams, their assistants, teachers and students to strive for the best quality teaching.
