The economy is developing quickly and the level of people's living standards is rising continuously in China. In this condition, parents are focusing more and more on their children's education.Plenty of parents are spending a lot of money in order to ensure their kids receive good early education. Therefore,it is very practical and meaningful to bring in theories involving preschool education from abroad, and translating up-to-date academic papers in this field should be an essential attempt. The source texts of this translation practice have been chosen from Infant and Child Development,a professional journal for preschool education, which is published by Wiley Online Library, the biggest academic journal publisher in the world. The journal has significant influence both home and abroad. This translation report mainly includes four parts,i.e.translation task description, translation process description, case study, and conclusion. In the part of case study, five categories of problems, found out by the writer in the translation of preschool education academic papers, are discussed in detail. They consist of differences between English and Chinese academic papers, technical terms' recognition and accurate translation, problems brought up by the experimental approach used in the papers, long sentences' reconstruction, and writing norms for the translated texts. The writer took the initiative and found out ways to overcome each of the five problems with hard work. All findings are recorded later in the same part. Then, with Professor Zhou Lingshun's “Truth-seeking—Utility-attaining” continuum model of evaluation, which is mainly used to evaluate translator behavior, the writer has reviewed her own translation,in order to improve the translated texts and sum up the advantages and disadvantages in the process of translation. All findings and experience gained from this translation practice are presented here. The writer would be greatly honored if this paper can add anything to the research of academic paper translation.
