For the purpose of optimizing the translating process as well as finding possible solutions to the concerned difficulties emerging in this translation project, the author of this report adopts Newmark's communicative translation theory and other related translation procedures as the guidance of his translation practice.According to Newmark's theories, the source text should be divided into an informative text which emphases the message, focuses on the target language and better be translated communicatively.Furthermore, based on the principles of communicative translation, the reporter selects domestication as his translation strategy. After that,he adopts corresponding translation procedures and skills, for instance, translation couplet, conversion and recasting sentences, etc.,to address specific matters of translation,e.g.translation of terms and long sentences.Through the practice,it is concluded by the reporter that to apply the communicative-translation-related theories as well as procedures put forward by Peter Newmark in his masterpiece Approaches to Translation to guide the translation practice of the first two chapters of the book is feasible and valid. It can be a reference of how to apply Newmark's translation theories into the translation of other non-literary texts.
