A Practice Report On C-E Translation Of Annual Report On Culture Of Shaanxi (2018) From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation

As an authoritative research report,Pishu analyzes and forecasts the current situations and development trends of various fields annually.In recent years,under the strong support of the “Going Global” policy,as an important carrier of international communication,the translation of Pishu is of great significance.This paper is based on the author’s C-E translation practice of Annual Report on Culture of Shaanxi(2018).Difficulties the author meets during the translation process are summarized at word,phrase and sentence levels.Difficulties at the word level lie in polysemy and repetitive words;at the phrase level,there are failures in conveying connotations and translating modifying phrases;and difficulties at the sentence level are reflected in non-subject sentences,long and complex sentences and sentences with repetitive meaning.According to the text types,the author finds that the source texts have both informative and vocative functions.Guided by the communicative translation,this paper puts forward approaches of word identification and replacement at the word level;amplification,paraphrase,annotation,omission and conversion at the phrase level;and addition of a subject,passive voice,division,rearrangement as well as combination at the sentence level.The tentative study of this paper is expected to provide some references for the translation of Pishu in the future.
