American sign language has a long history and a close relationship with French sign language.The source text used in this translation project is a detailed narration of the history and actuality of the American sign language.This paper aims to introduce its development,raise people’s awareness of the protection of the disabled and contribute to the growth of Chinese sign language.The theoretical guidance of this translation project report is functional equivalence theory.The report has been divided into four chapters: Part One is an overall introduction to the report,including reasons for the topic selection and significance and objectives of the topic.Part Two is the background of the original text,including author introduction and analysis of the original text.Part Three is the translation process,the major part of this report,presents translation theories,main difficulties and corresponding solutions.Part Four is a summary of the report.
