A Study On The Translation Strategies Of Science And Technology In The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence

Since the open door policy was carried out, foreign technological books have been introduced into China by translating, which leads to the great demand of qualified translators and interpreters. It pays to study the style of English for science and technology as well as translation theories and skills in order to improve their translation capability.This is a translation project report for Petroleum Engineering Special English. The translation practice is based on the theory of functional equivalence which illustrates the use of translation skills of conversion and amplification in Petroleum Engineering Special English,from English to Chinese, by using concrete examples. Its purpose is to master the characteristics of technological type of writing through the translation of Petroleum Engineering Special English and to carry out a preliminary exploration into technological essays, which aims at providing some reference for other similar practices.
