Interpreting workshop exerts a positive impact on interpreting learning.Previously,a great many related studies were done by experienced interpretation researchers and teachers in higher institutions,focusing on pedagogy and teaching method.Yet few of them took a perspective from the student.Theaim of the present study is to evaluate theprofessional competenceof the interpretation learners in Sichuan International Studies University from the perspective of the student.The study recruited 30 first grade interpretation learners of translation major who enrolled in dual-degree program in College of Interpretation and Translation in Sichuan International Studies University(SISU).The interpreting workshop model was implemented in regular interpretation teaching,whileboth qualitative and quantitative research methods were conductedso as to collect necessary data for results analysis,including questionnaire,peer interview,interpreting tasks and class observation.Thesis divided into six parts.The first chapter expressed the background and significance of the present study,raising questions to be solved in this study;Chapter Two reviewedrelevantliterature,includingresearches on workshop,translation workshop as well as interpreting workshop;in Chapter Three,it introduces the notion of Constructivism,which functioned as the theoretical basis for interpreting workshop,as well as its implication and development;in Chapter Four,it illustrates the history and development of interpreting workshop;in Chapter Five,it focuses on the implementation of the empirical study,including the research objective,methods,procedures,and many other related steps;in Chapter Six,it discusses and analyzes the collected data,giving proper conclusion and implication in accordance with the data while at the same time answering the questions raised in Chapter One.
