A Report On Escort Interpreting For A Racing Pigeon Expert's Working Visit

Pigeon race is a sport of popularity in today's Europe,which involves massive participation and excels with an expertise in aspects of racing pigeon domestication and tutorship.The professionalism has been updated in all China in recent years.One Danish expert was invited to Changchun,China in January,2016,visiting a pigeon coop based in a suburban area of Changchun city.The author worked as an escort interpreter,assisting the Danish expert through his 3 days' work with related business English interpretation as the only English speaker at all the working sites.Based on this escort interpreting,the author finished a practical report,which mainly discussed problems that the author had encountered in his work and proposed countermeasures accordingly.This report summarized and analyzed this escort interpreting and the author gathered experience.This report is comprised of three Chapters: Chapter One is a task description including task background,task features and task requirements.Chapter Two introduces the processes of preparation,interpreting procedure,feedback and self-assessment.Moreover,the preparation is subdivided into racing pigeon terms preparation and interpreting strategies preparation.Chapter Three,which is a paramount examination of the interpreting practice,mainly discusses interpreting errors and solutions.The author classifies the problems into three categories,namely,information loss,verbose expressions and misinterpreting.Then the author exemplifies each issue,analyzes reasons and proposes countermeasures accordingly,namely,memory approach and listening training,brevity for efficiency and sufficient preparation.The author recognizes his deficiencies after the escort interpreting.However,the problems the author encountered are representative.The author hopes that this report can do a favor for other interpreters.
