The article intends to study the typology of the ceramic Dou excavated from the tombs of the Eastern Zhou period in Zhengzhou-Luoyang region.This research is based on the results of the archaeological report Luoyang Zhongzhou Road and the past related researches.According to the different shape of the plate part,the thesis divides the ceramic Dou into four kinds,that is the “little bowl” Dou,the “plate” Dou,the “bowl” Dou,and the “kettle” Dou.Meanwhile,it discusses their evolvement seperately,then divides them into several periods and confirms their chronology.Furthermore,the author try to explain their function of the different kind of ceramic Dou.On the basis of the research above,the following research discusses the origin and development of the different kinds of the ceramic Dou and their communication with the surrounding areas.The thesis consists of six sections.The prelude focuses on the time-space range,then gives a close look at researching history and points out its shortages.The research methods and the objective of the article are also included.The second part mainly concentrates on the typology of the ceramic Dou,trying to figure out the evolvement of different kinds of the ceramic Dou.Our research is based on the results of the archaeological report Luoyang Zhongzhou Road and the past related researches.The third section aims to discuss the typology.We divide the above development of the ceramic Dou into six stages,and confirm the absolute chronology of each stage,on the foundation of the past research efforts on the tombs and other co-existing objects.The fourth part is concerned with the illustration of the function and the source and development of the ceramic Dou.As for the function,we will refer to relevant documents.When it comes to the source and development,we will compare the ceramic Dou in Zhengzhou-Luoyang region with its surrounding area,and by this way,regional cultural exchange can also be revealed.The fifth part is related with the chronology of the ceramic Dou with a Chinese character “Bo”.By identifying the typology of the ceramic Dou in the Zhengzhou-Luoyang region,we can make sure the clear time of the ceramic Dou found in the northeast of the Zhengzhou city.It proves that the character carved on the ceramic Dou should be “Bo”,instead of “Ting” after the Qin dynasty established the Sanchuan County,which provides solid evidence for the argument that the Zhengzhou city of Shang dynasty is Shangtang’s original capital.The final part presents a summary about the achievements of the whole article,and some deficiencies are pointed out,thus the further work are also noted. |
