With the background of the economic policies,“Opening-up” and “One Belt and One Road”,the flow of human, financial and material resources between China and most of countries around the world comes to a normal state.More and more Chinese go abroad to travel, work and live.As a result, there are more and more documents which require translating, such as certificates, contracts.Individual income, property testimonials and individual commercial contracts belong to this category. The professional translators encounter various problems and difficulties in the process of translation,a specialized translation in particular. In the era of information, the extensive use of computers has enhanced the quality and efficiency of translation. It also has lowered the degree of difficulty for the translation of legal documents, especially the contracts. However,as far as the translation of contracts is concerned, the texts' features, such as informativity, completeness, cohesion and coherence should be emphasized. This paper is a report on a translation practice. The writer composed this translation report to summarize the experiences and conducted the case analysis concerning the source and target texts under the guidance of related theories of discourse analysis. In the report, the writer probed into the texts' informativity, cohesion and coherence of the individual commercial contract, the process of rendering of structure and target text.At the last part, the writer summed up the experiences and limitations in the process of translation and concluded with the translating rules and techniques regarding the translation of various contracts.Through this paper, the writer hopes to provide reference and ideas in terms of the translation of documents of contracts and propose the translating techniques for the cohesion and coherence of legal texts translating from Chinese to English.
