A Report On The Translation Of The Specially Privileged Nationality: The Mongolian Volume Six

China has long been known as a multi-national country with splendid culture.With the increasing external exchange,our minority culture is gradually welcomed by the world.Therefore,it is worth researching how to translate the minority culture on the basis of keeping national features.It is honorable for the author to participate in the translation of the sixth volume Mongolian Culture and Custom in the English version of The Specially Privileged Nationality: The Mongolian.This book is one of the series of books Chinese National Cultural series which is planned to publish by Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House.During the translation,the author has found many culture-loaded words need translators to find suitable translation strategies.This report attempts to analyze its characteristic words and sentences and conclude specific translation strategies.This translation report introduces the case at first,and emphasizes on the analysis of translation strategies.The main part is the word level.The author concludes corresponding strategies(like transliteration,annotation,literal translation)according to the three categories of culture-loaded words(material,idea,behavior)on the basis of specific examples.Next,from the sentence level,the author puts forward the principle “Three Beauties and One Simplicity”(Beautiful Rhythm,Beautiful Sentence Pattern,Beautiful Rhetoric and Simple word)from hands-on experiences.Finally,the author hopes to refine the conclusion for reference and promote translation competence.
