This report can be regarded as an analysis of the simulated consecutive interpretation of Mr.Zhang Lei's interview at Yale University discussing the relationship between China and the United States in the current global economic and political environment, and its future in the Trump era, focusing on the difficulties in the study of consecutive interpreters and the characteristics of interviews and the corresponding solutions. The project aims to improve the level of self-interpretation through personal simulation practice.Interview CI is a bit more difficult because of its unique characters, poor coherence and language style. The three celebrities are experts in the field of economics,so the process of consecutive interpretation encounters many economic terms which is an obstacle. The topics discussed in this interview focused on the Sino-US relationship in the current global economic and political environment and its future in the Trump era, with both formal and informal language in long complex sentence structures about the Sino-US relationship between the current affairs. The author uses the corresponding tactics to solve this problem. These methods can not only avoid the conversion of language structure, but also to ensure the full expression of semantics, can make the delivery smoothly. This consecutive interpretation method can reduce the conduction of transforming the linguistic structure at the greatest extent and ensure the semantically complete expression in the process of simultaneous consecutive interpretation. With the guidance of the syntactic linearity, this project points out the difficulties in the simulated consecutive interpretation practice of Zhang Lei's interview and explores the corresponding coping methods, which enhanced the author 's competence of both consecutive interpreting and solving problems.Besides introduction and conclusion, the thesis has four chapters.Chapter one will give a brief introduction to the content and linguistic characteristics of the task text.Chapter two will present the whole process of the simulated CI program, including its preparation, speakers' background, and simulated consecutive interpretation evaluation.Chapter three will analyze the difficulties of consecutive interpretation in the task.Chapter four will dwell on some practical corresponding tactics for interpretation in CI through giving abundant examples.
