This report is a practice report on the simulated interpretation of an interview in science and technology. The interviewee is Elon Musk,President of Tesla. On Code Conference in 2016,Musk shared his views on the future of space civilization, artificial intelligence, and so on.This interview covers such areas as cosmology, astronomy and quantum physics. This material has its unique language style through the combination of English for science and technology and interview.English for science and technology is characterized by rigorous reasoning, accurate narration, and precise words.Interviews are characterized by colloquial expressions. In view of the problems encountered in interpreting, this report puts forward the following strategies: when dealing with nominalization, under the guidance of interpretive theory, interpreters could transform nominalization into verb-object structure,subject-predicate structure and independent clauses;when dealing with paratactic sentences, under the direction of the theory of variable translation, interpreters could follow the strategies of omission and combination;when dealing with long sentences, interpreters could adopt the strategies of syntactic linearity and readjustment of word. The purpose of this paper is to provide some feasible and effective solutions for interpreters while dealing with similar problems in scientific and technological interview interpretation.By referring to these methods, interpreters are expected to improve the quality of consecutive interpretation and reduce their efforts in short-term memory so as to improve both the quality and the efficiency of their interpretation.
