Recently,with the gradual promotion of China' position,Chinese language has enjoyed increasing popularization worldwide.Against the backdrop of all the citizens learning Chinese,Teaching of Chinese as a Foreign Language(TCFL)has realized great achievements.Due to its advantages of the location close to China,Mongolia has witnesses great results in the popularization and generalization of Chinese language.However,the Chinese character is not used widely in Mongolia,so it is difficult for the students to accept and master it because its compl exity and written form.For these problems and based on my teaching practice in the school,elementary students from grade one to five,as well as senior high students from grade ten to twelve have been chosen as teaching subjects.Through observation and questionnaires,the thesis shows the present situation of the students' learning the Chinese characters in Mongolia,investigating and analyzing it to identify the problems.Hence,correspondent teaching methods can be brought forward.It is hoped that all of these can broaden the horizons of Chinese teachers in Mongolia and provide them with more references to further help them adopt more scientific and reasonable teaching strategies.Specifically,the thesis is divided into five parts dealing with the imp ortance and problems of TCFL to further explore the teaching strategies for Mongolian students.The first part is introduction,which introduces the motivation and meaning,research range and corpus' s source of this thesis.The second part is literature re view of teaching Chinese characters,mainly including its achievements,research of methods as well as its development in Mongolia,based on which are the drawbacks in the past researches and is the research value of the thesis.The third section is the current situation and features of teaching in Menggen Comprehensive School.The forth one is the teaching of Chinese character recognition,which analyzes its objects and methods,letting us know more about the students' Chinese character recognition and p utting forward correspondent teaching strategies for the problems through questionnaires.The fifth part is the teaching of Chinese character spelling,introducing its objects and methods,analyzing the students' Chinese character spelling and putting forward correspondent teaching strategies through questionnaires.The last part,the sixth one,is conclusion,which concludes the novelty and drawbacks of the thesis.
