The balance of parent-child relation is what people perform in parent-child relation in indigenous Chinese culture.It's speculated that self-worth and parent-child communication are two important factors that affect the balance of parent-child relation,for which reason four types of balance of parent-child relation are studied in this dissertation,and so is the relationship between self-worth,parent-child communication and the balance of parent-child relation.Research 1: Semi-structured interviews are conducted towards eighteen middle school students using qualitative method,with 15 minutes for each student.Qualitative analysis is then done to the text data acquired from the above-mentioned interviews which has 24256 words.The results are as follows:(1)The four types of students regarding the balance of parent-child relationship has its own features,which is mainly reflected in the emotional state,the strategy of resolving conflicts,the conformance of child's behaviors to parents' requirements and the degree of satisfaction with parent-child relationship.(2)Family education style,parent-child communication and empathy are the main factors that affect the balance of parent-child relation.Research 2: Questionnaire survey is conducted among 494 middle school students from two schools.The balance of parent-child relation,self-worth and parent-child communication are investigated and analyzed using T-test,variance analysis,correlation analysis,regression analysis and some other methods.Further the relationship between them are discussed.The results are as follows:(1)The self-worth of middle school students shows significant differences in gender and whether the subjects is the only child in his family,whereas not in which grade the subjects is in.The parent-child communication of middle school students shows significant differences in gender and which grade the subjects is in,whereas not in whether the subjects is the only child in his family.(2)The different types of the balance of parent-child relation shows significant differences in the dimensions of parent-child communication and the self-worth.(3)There is significant correlation among the balance of parent-child relationship,self-worth and parent-child communication.(4)Parent-child communication plays an intermediary role between the self-worth and the balance of parent-child relationship.
