A Practice Report On Escort Interpreting-Based On A Program Review Of An Automobile Company

This is a practice report finished on the basis of the author's interpreting practice in an auto company of Changchun city for its cooperation with a German company of which the representatives come to Changchun for program review in September 2016.During this task,except introduction of scenic areas,all of the interpreting work is done by the author independently.In addition to interpreting for basic introduction relating to fields of cooperation,the author also shoulders the work of airport pickup and arrangement for accommodation.During this practice,the author profoundly understands how complicated and difficult interpreting is and has new insight into the work of interpreters through this exercise.After this practice,the author streamlines the whole process including preparations before interpreting,interpreting process and conclusion,based on which this report is made.There is no doubt that valuable experience worth accumulating and deficiencies also need to be reflected on.This practice contributes to a profounder understanding on interpreting and it is more likely conducive to the learning and work in the future.This thesis is composed of four chapters.The first chapter is task description,which includes the introduction of the client,interpreting task and requirements of the client.The second chapter is a description of the process which is divided into three stages:preparations before interpreting,interpreting process and conclusion.The third chapter is case study aiming at this practice and proposes solutions to problems encountered in the interpreting.Issues encountered is classified into three categories: the first kind is interpreting of automotive industry terminology;the second is voice conversion which is commonly seen in translation of science and technology English and the last is interpreting skills of long sentences and handling methods for overload information expressed by source text.Difficulties of interpreting are analyzed in detail and corresponding coping strategies are summarized.The fourth chapter is conclusion.The author deliberates on the problems appeared in interpreting and recognizes the qualities an interpreter should have and enlightenment for leaning and work in the future.
