Parts of The House by the Lake,about more than 10,000 words from the original work were selected and translated into Chinese.It is a narrative literature book,which is written by Ella Carey.The book,based on the background of the memory,respectively tells two love stories about the grandfather Max and Isabelle,the granddaughter Anna and Wil.The difficulties in translation is to deal with the translation of lexical and syntax in the novel.The difficulties in linguistic translation are a large number of long and complex sentences describing the daily life details and scenes in the original text.According to Nida's functional equivalence theory,the author uses some translation strategies to solve the problems.At the same time,the author makes a reorganization of the sentences and text in order to conform to the habits of Chinese readers.On the one hand,the author actively uses foreignization to guide practice in order to maintain the feature of the original language culture.On the other hand,the author uses domestication to maintain the translation smooth and coherent in order to make the reader understand deeply.The author learns a lot from the translation practice.On the one hand,the author expands her own knowledge by consulting a lot of reference materials.From the practice,the author is bound to find the advantages and disadvantages of herself and makes known to herself about the efforts in future.On the other hand,the author hopes that she can provide some clues or references for the translation of the novel.
