In English-Chinese translation,the change of word class is very commonly-used duo to the differences in the two language systems and cultures.The same is true in the English-Chinese translation of Financial Times.Firstly,the author introduces the definition of the change of word class.Then the author explores the application of change of word class in the process of translation.There are twenty-three examples listed in the report.That is how to convert nouns into verbs and adjectives,how to convert verbs into nouns and adverbs,how to convert adjectives into nouns and verbs and how to convert adverbs into verbs and nouns.Finally,it concludes as follows:it will not obey to the expression of the target language and will make the reader confused if only using literal translation.The author intends to prove the importance of the change of word class through analyzing the features of the source text,comparing the difference between the two languages,thereby providing a reference for translators of such documents.
