A Report On Interpreting For The Sulfur Forming Shop Of Chuandongbei Gas Project

With the vigorous development of Sino-foreign joint venture projects in China,the demand for interpreters of construction sites has also increased.The English interpreting of civil work demands for accuracy and timeliness,and it also requires interpreters to have professional qualifications in related fields.And the interpreting of civil work is also different from other fields.Under the bright prospects of Sino-foreign cooperation projects,interpreters should solve the problems encountered in the process of interpreting through self-learning and self-improvement and master and employ flexibly interpreting strategies and methods in dealing with challenges in the future.In this report,first of all,the author introduces the background and organization of the CDB Project,and provides an overview of the interpretation tasks in the project.Secondly,the author describes the three phases of the interpretation task.Thirdly,the author describes the background and core contents of the interpretive theory.Then,the author,in combination with his own practical experience and the Interpretive Theory,analyzes the problems in the process of interpreting,such as terminology shortage and incomprehension,memory deficiency,choice of interpreter's roles and the incomprehension caused by accents or habits of the speaker.The author also puts forward the corresponding solutions,such as amplification,paraphrasing,effective note-taking,and effect of communication.Finally,the author summarizes the lessons learned and the implications of the interpretation task.Based on the interpretive theory of the Paris School and under the proposition of civil work interpreting,the author studies and analyzes the examples by comparison and finally draws the following conclusions.First of all,a qualified interpreter is required to have the following qualifications,adequate professional knowledge,good professionalism,teamwork spirit and healthy physical condition.Secondly,the interpreter can solve problems encountered in the interpreting process through the combination of theory and practice.It is hoped that this thesis can be used as a reference for students and interpreters who are also interested in civil work interpreting.
