Nowadays, interpreting activities are drawing a great deal of attention from the world, and are playing an increasingly significant role in international exchanges and cultural communications. The interpreting project selected by the author is a space documentary entitled Pluto and Its Moons of NOVA program. It talks about a spacecraft named New Horizons which flies across the farthest object in the outer solar system. This simulated E-C consecutive interpreting report mainly discusses pre-interpreting preparations, difficulties in interpreting, and solutions to these difficulties under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.According to the Interpretive Theory, interpreters should consciously convey the meaning based on his or her understanding of the source language and the cognitive complement. In the process of interpreting, unfamiliar words, redundancy, colloquialism, and long and complex sentences are major challenges faced by the interpreter.Guided by the principles of the Interpretive Theory, the author comes up with four strategies:free interpreting, omission, paraphrasing and sentence segmentationThe significance of this report lies in providing effective advice for other interpreters who interpret documentary of the same kind in the future. It is also hoped that the interpreter could accomplish her future interpreting practices with high proficiency and find more solutions to solve the interpreting difficulties with the help of the Interpretive Theory.
