Report On The Project Management Based On Kilgray MemoQ

The rise of global service outsourcing,the development of information technology as well as the boost of communication technology give impetus to the development of language service industry.Because the task of translation project is heavy and the time allowed to translate is short,the translation mode which was based on individual translator in the past are gradually transformed into a more diversified cooperative mode to meet the higher translation requirements.Furthermore,the Age of Big Data provides a large number of available language assets and advantages for computer-assisted translation.Taking the translation project of National Geographic Travelers-New Zealand as an example,this report briefly introduces the process of project management with the application of computer-aided translation software memo Q system.The author is one of the translators and also takes part in this translation project as a manager.Working in the translation environment of memo Q system,the author provides a detailed description of five major management process groups(Initiating,Planning,Executing,Monitoring and Controlling as well as Closing).Apart from this,the preparation of corpus(the collection of parallel corpus and the extraction of glossary)in planning phase,the quality management and team management in executing stage,and the time management in the period of monitoring are also described in a detailed way.Combining manpower with modern translation technology,the project management of New Zealand based on memo Q system not only accelerates the progress of translation cycle but guarantees the quality of translation as well for a satisfactory deliverable.The author introduces the necessity and advantages of the management of translation project in combination with CAT technology,hoping that she could provide experience and references for further work.
