With the continuous development of China’s foreign relations, more and more people begin to concern about China, when Chinese language learning and cultural exchange activities are becoming increasingly frequent. Participating in short-term Chinese language classes has become a way to learn Chinese and a method of participating in cultural exchange activities. Generally speaking, the learners hope to make efficient progress on improving language skills in limited time, furthermore, understand and experience Chinese culture. So, what kind of teaching method can be the most efficient way to enable learners to experience Chinese and Chinese culture, and improve their communicative competence in Chinese? The article starts from this breakthrough, which combined with the teaching practicing, introduces the learning activities of a short-term Chinese language learning class(Point Loma Nazarene University from America) in Chuxiong Normal University, analyzes the teaching object, curriculum, teaching material, teaching objectives, teaching activities, teaching effectiveness based on the feature and principle of short-term Chinese teaching through literature searching, observation, recording and interviewing. By analyzing these materials, the author reflects the success and shortcoming in teaching, sums up the general rules of the short-term Chinese language teaching, then gives some suggestions to help other teachers and learners to find and analyze.Part one is the introduction, mainly introduces the research significance, background, methods and research scope; part two introduces the feature and principle of short-term Chinese teaching; part three introduces a short-term Chinese language learning class in Chuxiong Normal University, analyzes the teaching object, curriculum, teaching material, teaching objectives, teaching activities, teaching effectiveness; part four gives some suggestion to intensive short-time Chinese in the future;part five is the conclusion, this part summarizes the contents and the deficiencies of this paper.
