A Study On Dialect's Application In Modern Sichuan Writers' Works

In the history of Chinese modern literature,Sichuan writers have formed into a writer group of far-reaching influence,which owes to the distinct geographical characteristics in their works.For instance,writers usually employ large numbers of local dialects,colloquial expressions,folk words and phrases,small pieces of folk songs of mountainous area and so forth.Consequently,the language of these works always feature in rich country flavor because of its secularization and localization.The reason why dialect is used by writers in their works is pretty complex.Apparently,it is writers' country complex that matters a lot,besides,the current situation and language policies also play an important role in their writing.Based on the ideas above this article will do a specific analysis of some selected writers who used to apply dialect conspicuously in their works in Sichuan's modern literature history such as Li Jieren,Sha Ting,Ai Wu,Luo Shu,Wang Yuqi,Sha Ou and others.By reading the text closely this article aims at working out a list of the type of dialects employed in their works so as to reveal the political intention and county complex behind the language phenomena,and then studying the limitation of writers' ideas through making a summary of texts' content and finally uncovering the tendency of writers' inner feelings in that specific age.The introduction is involved with three points: one is the reason of selecting this title;another is the research achievement of modern Sichuan writers' application of dialect;and the last is a brief summary of the innovation of this article.This article's body will do research on the distinct linguistic features in these selected dialect works by Sichuan writers.It can be divided into three parts: current situation of Sichuan dialect as well as the inheritance and innovation of dialect in the works of Sichuan writers,discipline for dialect under political ideology,the dissemination strategy adopted by writers.More specifically,firstly,dialect mainly manifest itself in several aspects in Sichuan writers' works: local people who speak dialect rather loudly are fond of making fun of others by giving their nicknames;local powerful groups would like to use plenty of dialect to curse and abuse the working people;straightforward Sichuan females' languages are acid-tongued and inelegant.Secondly,the folk language resources employed by Sichuan Writers can be such forms as ballad,dialect,folkloric vocabulary and dialect community jargon.The employment of folk language takes both artistic pursuit and political intention into consideration.Finally,since there are some limits of dissemination and writing in process of dialect's application in texts,in order to disseminate their dialect works Sichuan writers have a tendency to employ dialect in the dialogues of characters,national common language in process of narration.Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China,Sichuan writers made efforts to shift rare dialect vocabularies into mandarin so as to make dialect coordinate with mandarin without bringing down regional literary flavor when they adapted their old works under the impact of language normalization policy.The third segment in the third chapter mainly gives a discussion of language strategy.Writers tend to make use of some notes,brackets,dashes and some other elements in order to help readers understand dialect better.During the conclusion this article makes a summary of the fact stated in articles again,and then it concludes the confusion in process of studying dialect in Sichuan literary works.Studying on the problems of dialect writing in Sichuan modern literary history can provide not only a brand new perspective for researching the regional literary study thoroughly but also some new enlightenment for the selection of language in the creation of Chinese modern literature.In addition,thanks to the limitation of regional language,dialect is abused in some literary works,resulting in the lack of aesthetic characteristics,which should be paid much more attention to.
