Problems Of Language Identity In The Urbanization Of Hangzhou

Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang province,which has a long history,prosperous culture and developed economy.Also,Hangzhou is one of the central cities in Yangtze river delta and one of the most important cities in today’s new urbanization.As the development of new urbanization,on the one hand,the population in Hangzhou increases sharply in resent years;on the other hand,the space of the city has been expanded.Transforming county into district is being the trend of new urbanization.The population flow and the expansion of the space give rise to a new situation,in which the population structure reorganizes and language and culture blend,which has a great impact on the language ecology of the city directly and then gradually forms the problems of language identity.Language identity which is closely connected with urbanization is the main pattern of manifestation of language ecology.What’s more,the position and role of language identity become more and more significant in new urbanization.Thus,building up a harmonious and healthy language ecology of the city comes to be a strategic and basic engineer in culture construction of the city.So,at the background of new urbanization and with the aim to construct a new language ecology,we are going to have a comprehensive and detailed survey about language identity of the local citizens in Hangzhou’s old district and two new districts called Xiaoshan and Yuhang in adopting the way of questionnaire and brief interview.First,we begin to describe the language identity of the local citizens in old district,including the identity of mandarin,mother language and dialects of the new districts.And then,we start to describe the language identity of the citizens in new district in the same way as the citizens in old district.After describing the situation of language identity,we try to have a inner social analysis on it.In addition to this,we broaden the perspective of analysis to compare the language identity between the old district and the new district,and also between the two different new districts.At last,we propose some advises and suggestions in order to build up a harmonious language ecology in Hangzhou according to the results and the analysis.
