The behavior disorder of elementary school students is the focus of all sectors of society. Studies showed that the detectable rate of behavior disorder of elementary school students nationwide is 8.6% and in a rising tendency in recent years. Behavior disorder will not only affect the personal growth and development of the students, but also cause damage to the school, family and society. Therefore, it is especially important to conduct intervention on the disorder.Sandplay therapy refers to a kind of psychotherapy method in which the visitors display the unconscious world, vent unhealthy emotions and promote personality integration in a free and protected space through the layout of sand and sand trays, so as to realize self-healing. Sandplay therapy has the nonverbal characteristic, which can enable elementary school students to get cured in the game.Given this, elementary school students in some educational institution in Wuhan were taken as the objects of this study. Through questionnaire survey, interviewing method and observational method, three students with behavioral problems were finally selected as participants and performed sandplay therapy intervention for 2 months.Thereinto, two participants respectively completed the sandplay therapy for seven times and one student completed the therapy for four times, whose intervention was interrupted by parental issue.The final results showed that:(1) The results of Rutter behavior questionnaire showed that the aggregate score of the participants significantly decreases.(2) The thematic changes of the sand trays are significant, the themes of healing are on the rise, and the themes of trauma are on the decrease. The proportion of weapons in the sand trays decreases.(3)The evaluations made by parents and institutional teachers suggested that the children’s performance in emotion, interpersonal relations, learning and other aspects has been somewhat improved.Studies showed that sandplay therapy can effectively improve behavior disorders of elementary school students.
