From The Humorous Perspective,Reviewing The Influences Of Traditional And Surreal Pop Style On The Oil Painting

As one of the 1970s' generation,I first learned the traditional Chinese painting,and then i have been influenced by western painting ideas.Based on my learning experiences,my understanding of painting is about the relationship between traditional painting style and modern painting style.This relationship is based on the changes which have already taken place in political,economic and cultural fields of our society.The influences of these changes can be found in painting ideas.In the first half of 20 th century,there were many performance practices in modern western painting,such as modern style,Cubism,Surrealism,Expressionism,Dadaism,Fauvism and some other performance practices which is figurative,abstract and diversified.Those performance practice have a great impact on the art ideas of 1970's generation.Besides,our generation has also been impacted by movies,TV programs,animations,video games and the internet technologies such as social network.According to these new ideas,we have updated our creation ideas and we are also facing some contradictions.Firstly,we are facing the contradiction between conservative ideas(respect for traditional culture)and new ideas(modern styles).Secondly,we are facing the contradiction between the traditional painting technique and modern visualization painting technique.Therefore,the painting techniques and painting styles we choose are more diversified.When i was studying modern painting,i was inspired by the surreal pop painting style,and i even used that style when i was working on my graduation painting.I mixed the traditional figurative style with modern and post-modern style together,and then i found something new in my painting.It is a symbol of the brand new painting language that mixed the traditional painting and modern painting together and it played an important role in contemporary art.Post 1970s' and post 1980s' painters are greatly influenced by cartoons,movies,animations and video games.The surreal pop style has characteristics of these pop works and it incorporates all these characteristics into its painting language.This style is consistent with the popularization and commercialization of modern pop culture because it expresses its artistic ideas and reflects artists' hobbies by humor which is recreational and casual.Post 1970s' generation have experience both traditional serious art and modern recreation.Therefore,one of the characteristics of post 1970s' generation is that they are likely to find art nutrition from traditional arts and use them to express their feelings and self-consciousness.
